Join NYC Votes, Urban Word, and the New York Public Library Teen Center on June 10 from 4-6pm to help us Get Out the Youth Vote in advance of the June Primary Election. This year’s Primary Election is incredibly important– we are voting for the US Senate,  Governor, State Assembly, Ballot Proposals and more!

During this event you will receive training from the NYC Votes Youth Engagement Coordinator on civics, early voting, and what our local elected officials actually do. You will then work in groups to create Get Out the Vote Action Plans to mobilize your schools or communities to get to the polls for the June Primary Election. At the end of the event, each group will present their action plans and receive feedback from NYC Votes staff. Your Action Plans will be displayed at the NYPL Teen Center and shared on the @NYCVotes social pages. This event will also feature a performance from Elizabeth Shvarts, the NYC Youth Poet Laureate.

All youth who complete an Action Plan will be entered in a raffle for three grand prizes: $100 gift card, $50 gift card, and $25 gift card. Dinner and Metrocards will be provided to attendees. Youth who participate are eligible to earn service hours for both taking the training and implementing their action plans.

This event is open to all young New Yorkers 13-19 years old.

The Teen Center is fully accessible. For any accessibility concerns, please contact Olivia Brady at [email protected].
