While NYC Votes offers public facing sessions led by our Youth Engagement Coordinator, we believe in a peer-to-peer model and understand that many young people need to hear information about voting and government from their peers who have similar lived experience. As such, we are offering a Ranked Choice Voting Outreach Program to youth leaders who are interested in learning educating their peers and communities about RCV.
We will offer two 1.5 hour sessions to train young leaders in how RCV works and how to conduct outreach. The second half of these sessions, youth participants will enter breakout rooms based on their interests where they will finalize plans to
- Social media
- Relational organizing
- Leading training sessions
Youth who participate in this session will receive personalized attention from NYC Votes staff to support their RCV outreach goals. In addition, those who complete the trainings will be matched with various agencies, non-profits, and elected officials who are interested in having youth lead RCV education sessions to their constituents.
This opportunity is open to all New Yorkers between the ages of 14 and 24 years old. Check your email for a Zoom link after sending your RSVP.
